Here are our top 10 tips for staying safe at large events:-
ENTRY
1. Make sure event security are present.
2. Note the location of event security staff and medical responders and identify emergency exit routes.
3. Note what items are allowed, and what is prohibited. Some events and venues restrict the types of bags and items that you're allowed to bring in and limit or restrict the consumption of alcohol.
It is easy to get caught up in festivities, but remaining alert and aware of your surroundings at all times.
PERSONAL SAFETY
4. Keep an eye on the crowd for signs of trouble.
5. Safety in numbers. If possible attend the event with a companion or two.
6. If you attend with children, explain the importance of safety and how important it is to stick close to the family. Also consider taking a photo of your children so you have a current description on hand in the event in case you get separated.
7. Inform at least one person not at the event that you are attending.
8. Keep your belongings close. Put your wallet in a front pocket (preferably one with a zipper). Ensure purses, wallets, phones or cameras are always as secure as possible.
9. Don’t put your personal belongings on the ground to keep them from being stolen or forgotten.
10. Respond quickly to an alarm or sign of emergency and leave immediately - don’t pause to gather unnecessary belongings.
